The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids 2016 is an essential tool when planning your vacation to Orlando. Not only is this book all encompassing but the guide is entertaining and jam packed with tips. According to the introduction "It is also the only Unofficial Guide created with the guidance of a panel of kids, all of varying ages and backgrounds." I loved the notes in the margins of the pages from Bob and Liliane listing quick tips to help your vacation be the best it can be. Their wit and humor kept me interested throughout my reading. Although I consider myself a seasoned visitor to Disney, I learned some very helpful tips from them. For example: One tip was to have everyone in the family put their "potentially wayward items" (like shoes, hip packs, sunglasses, autograph books, etc.) in a box as they enter the hotel room each evening. Those items in the box are designated off-limit until the next morning. Therefore you avoid spending 15 minutes searching for them the next morning while you are trying to get out the door.
One of the most informative aspects of this guide are the detailed descriptions for each attraction/show at every park including but not limited to the attraction's appeal by age group, bottleneck rating of the attraction (where crowd concentrations occur), duration of the experience and queue speed. These descriptions were helpful in determining which attraction my son would enjoy when we planned our first trip to Walt Disney World. Today it continues as a great resource for my family as new attractions/rides are added to the parks.
Topics in the Know Before You Go section include, mental and emotional preparation, physical preparation, developing a good plan, logistic preparation, remembering your trip, trial run and a section for guests with special needs. The small-child fright-potential table is very helpful, even for those guests who may not have a small child, but any aged family member who may have sensory difficulties with loud noises and sudden movements.
If you are planning on visiting Orlando's theme parks in the future, I highly recommend you purchase The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids 2016 by Bob Sehlinger & Liliane J. Opsomer with Len Testa. It is an outstanding planning tool that will enable your Disney experience to be a fabulous and unforgettable vacation.
