Recently my family and I were excited to receive an invitation to stay at Orlando Insider Vacations' vacation home, Serendipity at Indian Creek. The home is located in a nice, quiet residential neighborhood just 10 minutes from Animal Kingdom. Ample shopping and dining are conveniently located close by on Highway 192. We were thrilled how quick our commute was to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom from the vacation home. We were also curious how our son with autism would react to staying in a vacation home rather than a hotel or time-share condo environment.
Serendipity at Indian Creek is a lovely 5 bedroom home (3 with king-sized beds), 4 full baths, a dining room that seats 8, an eat-in-kitchen, a large family room with a sofa bed, large game room, covered lanai, screened private pool and hot tub. The back yard is enclosed with a delightfully adorned privacy fence. Charming Disney artifacts are found throughout the tastefully decorated home.
The home has a keypad entry system. It also has a security system that beeps when an exterior door was opened, which can be reassuring for those families who may have a flight risk family member. I was also glad to see that the pool had a protective safety fence and there were child proof covers on the electrical outlets throughout the home.
Sarah and Ken, the owners of Orlando Insider Vacations, made us feel very welcome with a personalized card on the island and some basic staples of milk and juice and other refreshments in the refrigerator. They were available any time via phone or email if we had any questions or if any complications occurred (which we did not have). We were also provided the contact numbers for the property managers who were also available 24/7.
One outstanding aspect of staying at Serendipity was its unique features and the many amenities that you typically won't find at most hotels, resorts or time-share condos. A private pool, hot tub, golf clubs (with discounted fees at a nearby golf course), private game room including video game console and games, pool table, air hockey, and Foosball table, free high-speed internet and WiFi, books, movies, ice chest, full sized washer and dryer, portable chairs, computer and printer, baby care items including several types of strollers and much more. I loved all the kitchen extras that were included like paper products, a variety of flavored coffees, plastic wrap, a variety of spices and seasonings, dishwasher soap, updated stainless steel appliances, a slow cooker, waffle iron, and a plethora of dishes, glasses and eating/cooking utensils to name just a few.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Serendipity by Orlando Insider Vacations. It was a perfect place to come back to after a long day at the theme parks. With the multiple bedrooms and bathrooms and large common areas, this home is also wonderful for multi-generational and extended families. Specifically, my son, who has autism and is very sound-sensitive, was able to swim in the pool and relax in the home without others bothering him. He was much more relaxed in the home setting versus the chaos of a hotel or time-share condo where guests are running and yelling down the hall or slamming doors at all hours. My husband and I were less self-conscious of our son’s loud verbalizations at times because we weren’t concerned about bothering guests on the other side of the wall or floors above/below. And, during times of an autistic meltdown, which may or may not occur during vacation, it would be less stressful dealing with the meltdowns in a private home versus a hotel or time-share condo.
I would highly recommend Serendipity by Orlando Insider Vacations for those vacationing in the Orlando area, especially those who have a family member with autism, for the convenience, space, security, luxury and privacy of a vacation home.
